SACRED SPOTS

I’ve never been religious, and I don’t think that I ever will be. I have seen too much of what happens around the world when religion is weaponized and politicized. Both in my lifetime and throughout history, both overseas and at home in the United States.

But subconsciously I find myself drawn to photographing religious sites and aesthetics during my travels. I love the art, I love the history, I love the sound of the call to prayer while visiting muslim countries.

Though I hold my certain beliefs, I have learned to really appreciate the aspect of people from all walks of life devoting themselves to something so deeply. I have learned to appreciate the sacredness and the way it helps others navigate this life. Religion has made this world go around for much longer than I have been here, and it will continue to do so for much longer after I am gone.
