THE VOICE OF TBILISI’S STREETS
If you want to understand the majority of Georgia’s perspective (especially the younger generations) on Russia in modern day, all that you need to do is walk down the street in Tbilisi.
After Russia invaded Georgia in 2008, approximately 20% of the country is still occupied territory-the Republic of Abkhazia, and the Autonomous Oblast of South Ossetia are both apart of the land taken from Georgia.
Bordering Russia, and having a government that is (debatably) pro-Russia (pro $$$), the youth are making it well known that they are determined to seperate themselves from the superpower, to join the EU, and to become aligned with the west, and western values.
My generation, the Georgians my age, lived through the invasion as children. It is very fascinating to see some of those opinions reflecting in every day life. Especially through the graffiti on the streets around every corner. These were shot in July of 2024.
