THE BEST HOSTEL IN ANTIGUA, GUATEMALA: BARBARA’S BOUTIQUE HOSTEL

When visiting Guatemala’s vibrant city of Antigua, there is a type of accommodation to choose from for every kind of traveler, from hostels to modern boutique hotels. If you are like me and fall in between those two, Barbara’s Boutique Hostel is where you want to be.

Though Antigua is a small city that can be seen in a max of three days, Barbara’s is a perfect spot to slow down and stay put for a little bit to do some online work, or to really just relax and regroup with no rush. The biggest reason why my time in Antigua was so pleasant was greatly because of how beautiful and chilled Barbara’s was, I couldn’t have asked for a better couple of days.

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS TO TOURS, HOTELS, PRODUCTS, ETC. THESE HELP ME EARN A SMALL COMMISSION AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE TO YOU. XOXOXO

If you are going to be hiking Acatenango, Barbara’s is the most ideal place to relax if you choose to take some recovery days after the trek. The staff is nice enough to store your bags there with them for free while doing the hike as well.

Every morning after eating the perfect breakfast, the sweetest cleaners go room to room making all of the beds.

Along with the breakfast, tea and coffee is available all day, accompanied by a huge beautiful kitchen with any and all supplies that you might need to make some meals.

The best hostel in Antigua, Guatemala: Barbara's Boutique Hostel

My favorite part about Barbara’s is the rooftop, where I would sit and spend lots of time relaxing and taking in all of my surroundings of the volcanoes and mountains around me.

During the daytime it was already gorgeous enough, but at night the twinkling of the lights from the towns high in the mountains was indescribable.

Some of my other favorite things about Barbara’s Boutique Hostel:

The best hostel in Antigua, Guatemala: Barbara's Boutique Hostel
  • The staff is so kind, accommodating, and helpful, and English is spoken as well.

  • The hostel has a perfect balance of the social aspect if you want it, and the option to comfortably ride solo and do your own thing if you want to do that instead.

  • Every bed had curtains, multiple outlets, a little bedside table type platform to store your things, and sheets, blankets and towels.

  • Every room has lockers, and not some small little lockers to shove all your stuff in, they are the big lockers that just make it so much easier.

  • Located about a 5 minute walk from the central park, the hostel is located in a perfect part of the city.

  • Every room is super spacious, and they all have such great natural light during the day as well!

  • Again a great breakfast is included. Nothing more needs to be said about that.

  • The bathrooms are spacious, clean, bright, and the showers are HOT! How could I ask for more!

Barbara’s Boutique Hostel is one of my favorite hostels in Central America, and I will undoubtedly stay again next time that I am in Antigua!
