THE BEST WAY TO GET TO KOH KOOD FROM BANGKOK (2024)

Though Koh Kood is much less visited than Thailand’s well known islands down south, getting to and from is just as simple, if you do it correctly.

There are a number of ways to get from Bangkok to the island, but the cheapest (Boonsiri Ferry) was extremely easy, and quick as well.

An adult one way ticket will cost you $30, and a round trip will cost you $60. It is a necessity that you buy your ferry ticket HERE ahead of time, as they do sell out.

From Bangkok, you will leave from Boonsiri Ferry's office in the Koh San Area of the city HERE

The office is smaller and it does get a bit full so I would recommend getting there right when they start checking people in.

They will ask for your name, confirm your trip, and give you a seat # on the bus waiting right outside for you. Across the street there is a 7/11 as well, for any snacks + caffeine you need.

From Bangkok, you drive about 4 hours east to Trat, where you will be dropped off at Boonsiri’s bus station.

The station has a cafe (with good coffee + food), and a meal comes included in your ticket, I had some fried rice that was great. I guess this is sort of a little early lunch break, that lasted around an hour.

From the station, they will put you on a little cart and shuttle you down to the dock on the shore down the road. You'll hop on the ferry, and the ride to Koh Kood is an easy two hours ride.

When you arrive to Ao Salat Pier on the north east of the island, there will be trucks waiting to shuttle you to your hotel - again that is included in your ticket as well.

These trucks that transport you are basically the only vehicles on the island, the motorbikes are how you get around, and all of the rentals are further in the island at the accommodations or little family shops.

Hopefully it is as simple for you as it was for me!
